Gadar Tsautsayi Book One Complete Hausa Novel
The huge office was completely silent, as though there was no living soul inside it. Nothing could be heard except the gentle sound of the air conditioner, whose coolness filled the entire spacious office.
Yet there were about twelve people seated in a row on their chairs. They were senior officers holding different positions within the police force.
One of them, who appeared to be their leader, S.D Ibrahim Haruna Yalwa, stood facing them. There was no trace of cheerfulness on his face. He seemed to be their chief officer, and he was explaining something while the others listened.
He drew another breath and continued speaking angrily.
“This is a disgrace to us. How can this girl, young enough to be the daughter of many of us, become too difficult for us to handle in this city?
“She has completely corrupted the city. She has ruined our youths. Without any difficulty, she places orders for illegal drugs, brings them into Nigeria, distributes them to her distributors and returns to wherever she came from, yet not one of us has been able to arrest her.
“What does that mean? Are we useless, or is a girl younger than us somehow more powerful than we are?
“I am tired of hearing about and witnessing the failure of our agency when it comes to this girl. This failure and humiliation have gone too far. It is truly shameful.”
One of the officers respectfully raised his hand. The chief officer gave him permission to speak.
In a calm voice, he said,
“Sir, I suspect that there are powerful people protecting this girl from above. That may be why she operates so freely without fear, remains impossible to catch, and continues to have the confidence to do everything she does.”
The State Director looked at him angrily and replied directly,
“Nobody is standing behind her. She is standing on her own feet, and she has prevented us from standing firmly against her. I will not stop saying that we have disgraced ourselves by failing to defeat a young girl like her.”
The office fell silent again.
Everyone became lost in thought because they knew that what the State Director had said was true.
For two years, they had been chasing this young woman, yet they had failed to achieve anything against her. They had to find a solution before their agency became a laughingstock in the eyes of the public.
Slowly, he closed his beautiful eyes and opened them again. Then he raised his head and looked at the girl's picture displayed on the large screen inside the office.
She was extremely fair-skinned, almost as though she had no connection to Africa.
Her hair was braided with blue extensions that fell all the way down to her waist.
She was wearing a fitted top and trousers, with a white hat that matched her clothes resting on her head.
A handbag hung from her shoulder and rested neatly beside her waist.
Her eyes were covered with dark sunglasses, but even that could not hide the slight smile resting on her beautiful face.
Slowly, he raised his hand, his eyes still fixed firmly on her picture.
Even now, he could not understand how this young criminal had managed to throw their entire agency into such confusion, while they had still failed to get anywhere close to her, let alone think about arresting her.
The State Director looked at him and said,
“C.S.O HAISAM ABDULMALIK MADAKA!
“Do you have something to say?”
The man called C.S.O Haisam Abdulmalik stood up with dignity and his naturally quiet manner.
He was handsome and fair-skinned, though not extremely pale. The suit he was wearing suited his light complexion perfectly.
Slowly, he looked around at the people seated in the office. Many of them held higher ranks and positions than he did.
Then he turned his head slightly and, in his usual calm and reserved manner, began to speak.
